Browser-based diagnostics, no install

See exactly what your machine is capable of.

AstraSpec benchmarks your hardware, tests every peripheral, checks your network, secures your passwords, and even lets you optimize your OS — all client-side, entirely free.

MODULE 01

Hardware Benchmark & System HUD

Live FPS test and a read of what the browser can see about your machine.

MODULE 02

Network: DNS & Speed

Compare DNS providers and get a rough speed estimate. Browser timing is approximate, not a lab-grade test.

Network speed test

Downloads a small file and times it — a rough estimate, not an ISP-grade result. Actual speed test services use much larger, purpose-built files.

Estimated download—
MODULE 03

Peripheral & Input Testing Lab

Test every input and output device individually.

Keyboard tester

Press keys to see them register. 0 key(s) currently held.

Mouse tester

Move your cursor inside the pad and click the buttons to test registration.

Left click Right click Middle click Scroll wheel

Display test

Click a swatch to fill the screen — useful for spotting dead pixels or backlight bleed. Press Esc or click to exit.

Color blindness check

A quick Ishihara-style plate. This is a screening tool, not a medical diagnosis.

Battery health report

Uses the Battery API — supported in Chrome/Edge; Firefox and Safari don't expose this to websites, so you'll see an honest "unavailable" message there instead.

MODULE 04

Privacy & Data Security Hub

AES-256 encryption and hashing, computed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

File / text encryptor

Text to encrypt or decrypt Passphrase

Hash generator

Text to hash
MODULE 05

Security Toolkit

Password strength, breach checking, and what sites can see about you — all computed in your browser.

Password strength tester

Type a password to see how secure it is. Nothing is sent anywhere.

—

    Password generator

Generated locally using the browser's cryptographic random number generator.

    Length16

    Password breach check

Checks against Have I Been Pwned using k-anonymity — only the first 5 characters of the password's hash ever leave your browser.

    Email breach check

Checks whether an email has appeared in a known data breach, via the Have I Been Pwned account API.

    Browser fingerprint

The kind of information almost any website can read about your browser without asking.

    Username search

Most platforms block outside existence-checks from browser JS, so this builds direct profile links to check by eye.

Privacy warning: what this site (and most sites) can see about you

Live snapshot combining your network and browser exposure.

      QR code generator

Turns any text or URL into a scannable QR code, generated via a free public QR API (no data stored).

      Password-protected notes

Same AES-256 engine as your encryptor above — write a note, lock it with a passphrase, and copy out the encrypted blob to store anywhere. Decrypt it later with the same passphrase.

      Note Passphrase

What this site stores about you

Full transparency — everything AstraSpec has saved in your browser's local storage. Nothing here ever leaves your device.

      MODULE 06

      System Health Score

A combined read-out pulling from your Benchmark and Security results into one report card.

      —

      Overall session score

      Hardware performance—
      Security tools used this session—

This score reflects your hardware's benchmark result plus how many of the Security tab's tools you've actually used this session — it's an engagement + hardware read-out, not a professional security audit of your device.

      MODULE 07

      OS Optimization Guides

Pick your OS for a step-by-step performance pass. FPS ranges below are general, well-established estimates — not a measurement of your exact hardware.

      Windows optimization pass

      01
Switch to the High Performance / Ultimate Performance power plan (Settings → Power & Battery).
      02
Update GPU drivers directly from NVIDIA/AMD/Intel — not just Windows Update.
      03
Disable unnecessary startup apps via Task Manager → Startup apps.
      04
Turn on Game Mode and disable Xbox Game Bar overlay if you don't use it.
      05
Set your GPU control panel's power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance."
      06
Disable visual effects: Settings → System → About → Advanced → Performance → Adjust for best performance.
Typical gain: +5 to +15 FPS in most modern titles

      Linux optimization pass

Linux is already lean out of the box, so gains here are smaller and more about consistency (fewer stutters) than raw FPS.

      01
Install your GPU's proprietary driver where available (NVIDIA proprietary, or Mesa updates for AMD/Intel) rather than relying on the default open driver.
      02
Use a performance CPU governor: sudo cpupower frequency-set -g performance.
      03
Enable GameMode (Feral Interactive's gamemoded) to auto-apply performance tweaks per game session.
      04
If on Wayland and seeing stutter, try X11 as a quick comparison — some GPU/compositor combos still run smoother there.
      05
Disable unnecessary background services with systemctl list-unit-files --state=enabled and trim what you don't need.
Typical gain: +2 to +8 FPS, mostly smoother frame times

      macOS optimization pass

      01
Close background apps eating CPU via Activity Monitor, sorted by % CPU.
      02
Reduce motion and transparency: System Settings → Accessibility → Display.
      03
Keep macOS and app updates current — Apple regularly ships GPU driver/Metal performance fixes.
      04
Free up disk space — macOS slows noticeably under ~10-15% free storage.
      05
For gaming specifically, use apps/ports built with Metal (native) over translation layers where possible.
Typical gain: +5 to +12 FPS depending on the title
      MODULE 08

      Change Your OS

A general, OS-agnostic guide to doing a clean install from a USB drive.

      01
Download the official ISO file for the new OS you're installing, from its official source.
      02
Get a USB flash drive (8GB+) — everything on it will be erased.
      03
Use a tool like Rufus (Windows) or balenaEtcher (cross-platform) to flash the ISO onto the USB drive as a bootable installer.
      04
Back up anything important first — a clean install can wipe your drive depending on the options you choose.
      05
Restart your PC and enter BIOS/UEFI — usually by tapping F2, F10, F12, Del, or Esc right at boot (varies by manufacturer).
      06
In BIOS, find Boot Order and move your USB drive to the top. If installing an OS other than Windows, you may also need to disable Secure Boot.
      07
Save and exit — your PC will boot from the USB drive into the installer. Follow its on-screen setup.
A clean install can permanently erase your drive. Back up your files first, and double-check you selected the correct drive during setup.

      Interactive Terminal

A themed simulated shell — type help to see what it can do. It doesn't touch your real system.

      Color Size Thickness Gap

A side-by-side demo of what smooth vs. stuttery frame pacing actually looks like — the same rotation, rendered at two different simulated frame rates.

      144 Hz — smooth

Small everyday utilities, no install required.

      World clock

      "Is it down?" checker

Rough reachability check — browser CORS limits mean this is approximate, same honest caveat as the DNS latency test.
